Why cool down?

Cooling down after a workout is very important because you need to gradually decrease breathing and heart rate, aid recovery and develop flexibility in the muscles. It also avoids the build up or pooling of lactic acid, reducing stiff, aching muscles. The cool down can also act as a calming down activity.
Pulse lowering activity eg: walking
stretching eg: calf muscles, hamstrings, quads, top of back, chest. stretch the muscles that have been used and hold stretches still for 20-30sec.
