Six week no coffee challenge!

Hi everyone I am happy to say that I have just completed my 6 week no coffee challenge that I had set out for myself. Yes that’s right, 6 weeks ago I put myself to a 6 week challenge of not having coffee, and I did it!
Yes no cup of coffee was going to stand in my way of completing this challenge I was doing it for myself and to teach myself and others that when there is something that you love so much and that has a great affect over you and your body you can and you should take full control over your own body without it.
Yes it was hard and tempting to break out and get that cup of coffee that I was urging but I held myself back and stayed strong and focused. I did not want a substance to control me, and how I functioned. I would have at least 3 cups of coffee a day which is not that bad really but I had to replace with two cups of water each time I would drink a cup of coffee to replace the water that I was losing from the coffee as the coffee is a diuretic which makes the body produce more urine. So not only was I drinking too much coffee but I was spending too much time in the toilet as I was losing too much sodium and water.
When you lose too much sodium and water you become dehydrated and this can have an affect on a range of bodily functions from temperature control to absorption of food. As a personal trainer I have to be on top of my water consumption as it is very important for my body to consume the water for more important things other than going to the toilet.
That is the main reasons for me to do the challenge. Also to give my body a break from all the caffeine I was consuming.

To maintain peak performance I have to stay hydrated. Water is an amazing substance as it regulates body temperature, lubricates joints and transports nutrients through the body. So staying hydrated is very important.
During this challenge I could see amazing changes in my sleep as I did not have broken sleeps. I would wake up feeling fresh and energized. A friend that I did not see for a while told me in my week 5 of the challenge that my skin looked brighter and clearer. Funny too know that I had energy that lasted me all day. I was not irritable or anxious. I did not have any headaches. Most importantly I was having fewer trips to the bathroom. I also detoxed my body from the caffeine in my system ,and gave a break to my body from this substance. I do admit I have missed my coffee treats and I am looking forward to going out with my family and friends to celebrate with a great and well deserved cup of coffee or two. Knowing the great results of the challenge I have learned that when you put your mind to doing something and when you really want to change its all in the mind and all you have to do is to be committed to get to your goal. Once you have set out a goal for your self and accomplish it you know that you are able to do anything, what ever that might be.
